What will AAS do?

The Accessibility Accreditation Scheme will:

  • Help to educate people that are learning about usability and accessibility
  • Provide a reference point to compare progress of skills development
  • Allow a comparison with the average performance of the market in general
  • Benchmark industry performance
  • Encourage (foster) the raising of industry standards through comparison to a benchmark
  • Stimulate people to get on the journey of usability and accessibility whereby both roads lead to human centred design
  • Provide a sustainable route for firms to win and deliver quality assured results
  • Provide a path to assured procurement by identifying those firms that have the skill and ability required to produce technology that complies with accessibility guidelines
  • Distinguish firms that 'can' from those that falsely make the claim, allowing accredited firms to bid with justifiable self-assurance that the competition to win is fair
  • Elevate the position of the UK digital economy.
