What will AAS do?
The Accessibility Accreditation Scheme will:
- Help to educate people that are learning about usability and accessibility
- Provide a reference point to compare progress of skills development
- Allow a comparison with the average performance of the market in general
- Benchmark industry performance
- Encourage (foster) the raising of industry standards through comparison to a benchmark
- Stimulate people to get on the journey of usability and accessibility whereby both roads lead to human centred design
- Provide a sustainable route for firms to win and deliver quality assured results
- Provide a path to assured procurement by identifying those firms that have the skill and ability required to produce technology that complies with accessibility guidelines
- Distinguish firms that 'can' from those that falsely make the claim, allowing accredited firms to bid with justifiable self-assurance that the competition to win is fair
- Elevate the position of the UK digital economy.
