About Us
The Association of Accessibility Professionals (AAP), originally called the Usability & Accessibility Working Group (UA-WG), was renamed in late 2005. This change signified our evolution from a working group into an organisation that works towards promoting an inclusive digital society.
Founded by the British Web Design & Marketing Association (BWDMA) and Nomensa in 2003, our original purpose was to formulate an accessibility accreditation scheme, but we have since widened our remit to include a number of smaller projects.
The AAP embraces representatives from web design companies, advertising agencies, colleges, technology vendors, management consultants and charitable organisations. Together we represent a united body of dedicated professionals who are committed to developing and supporting accessible, usable design for all.
We are always looking for new areas in which we can use our resources to promote inclusivity and we are always delighted to welcome new contributors to the AAP.
