Harry Loots
Harry is a Senior User Experience Engineer with an expert understanding of accessibility and usability issues.
He is a versatile and lateral thinking professional whose experience ranges from his earliest efforts of creating an operator console that spanned the length of a typical boardroom, including lights indicating the progress of manufacturing processes and switches to activate all or part of the operation, through to his early use of VDU, to remotely monitor water-pumps located 500KM away.
Involved in web-based usability and accessibility since the late 90s, Harry helped to develop the first government site to be awarded Level AA compliance and has consulted and provided input to government (and the private sector) since on matters relating to accessibility.
Having grown up with a grandmother who was deaf; and later on a stepfather who was born without legs, Harry was more aware than most about how difficult it is to cope in a world apparently only suitable for people who have working legs, arms, ears and eyes.
In his spare time, Harry spends his weekends rock-climbing and exploring mountains.
Harry is currently a consultant for Fujitsu services.
