Association of Accessibility Professionals

The Usability and Accessibility Working Group has rebranded to become the Association of Accessibility Professionals.

Our work continues with as much enthusiasm as before. This change signifies our evolution from a working group into an organisation. We welcome people from across all industries and sectors, all of whom plough their energies into promoting an inclusive digital society.

The AAP embraces representatives from web design companies, advertising agencies, colleges, technology vendors, management consultants and charitable organisations. Together we represent a united body of dedicated professionals who are committed to developing and supporting accessible, usable design for all.

We’re concentrating on web development to begin with. This includes our Accessibility Accreditation Scheme (AAS) which will assist those commissioning digital services to identify qualified suppliers. And in our site you’ll find articles covering web site accessibility and usability, describing best practice and why it’s important. As we continue to grow, the group will consider all digital media and platforms and we will expand our site content and services accordingly.

For further information, please consult the About Us section.

Accessibility Accreditation Scheme

As an industry working group, our primary focus is the Accessibility Accreditation Scheme (AAS). Intended to provide an independent program of evaluation and assurance, the AAS will enable digital development companies to certify a proven capability for accessible, usable design.

For further information, please consult the Accreditation Scheme section.

Accessibility and Usability Resources

In the past few years, accessibility and usability have become essential components of quality digital development. Our members have archived many of their papers, articles and opinion pieces on this website, addressing some of the many concepts of accessible, usable design.

For further information, please consult the Accessibility Resources or Usability Resources sections.

Membership

The AAP welcomes new members from across the digital economy.
